AUSTIN, TX - September 12, 2026 – The Texas Forward Party is proud to announce its official candidate endorsement of Katie Kam, who is running as a non-partisan candidate for Austin City Council District 9.

Kam, an Austin resident since 1983, brings 30 years of professional experience as a civil and transportation engineer, urban planner, former Austin ISD science teacher, local business owner, and university researcher. Holding five degrees, including a Master's in Community & Regional Planning and a PhD in Civil Engineering from UT-Austin, she served eight years in the City of Austin’s development review, planning, and capital delivery services departments, and managed a $190+ million capital projects program for the City of Pflugerville.

Running on a win-win, solutions-oriented platform, Kam is committed to bringing proactive oversight, transparency, and data-driven accountability to City Hall. Her platform prioritizes core infrastructure maintenance, public and transportation safety, responsible public budgeting, neighborhood planning, and protecting and enhancing Austin's arts, music, history, watersheds, and tree canopy. Kam is dedicated to evidence-based policy-making and inclusive public engagement to help serve District 9 and the city.
